SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Scottsdale-based Notebowl today announces a partnership with Scottsdale Community College to bring Notebowl’s unique social networking tool into classrooms for enhanced student engagement and learning.

The partnership will allow for SCC professors and students to utilize the social learning platform, through the Canvas Learning Management System, and collaborate with Notebowl to revolutionize the student experience.

“We are very excited to work with SCC on impacting student engagement together. It’s incredible to work with such innovative administrators locally and impact the way students and faculty can engage with one another,” said Andrew Chaifetz, Founder & CEO of Notebowl.

SCC will work with Notebowl on several student engagement initiatives, including building communities, academic advising and mobile engagement. Being so close in proximity will allow SCC to work hand in hand with the Notebowl team on developing functionality to impact the student experience.

“We are pleased to partner with Notebowl on a new student engagement tool that we believe can be an enhancement to classroom instruction,” said Jan Gehler, Ed.D, president of SCC. “Having Notebowl headquartered so close to the college is an added benefit that makes this collaboration all the more powerful.”

Notebowl’s key features include the ability to communicate in a facebook-like news feed as part of the course work. Students will now have a key part in the discussion online, empowering them to communicate with classmates and faculty in one place.

The SCC and Notebowl partnership will, for the first time, provide several game changing additions for students, faculty and administrators. These additions are:

  • Classroom Community: Notebowl brings a social networking news feed style to courses inside the Canvas Learning Management System, which allows users to post, comment and interact organically.
  • Discussion Boards: Users can create and utilize social discussion boards as assignments that teachers can easily grade with analytics and metrics.
  • Mobile: Communicate on the go and get instant push notifications on any collaboration happening in the class or in the community.

“Innovation is encouraged at SCC, with a focus on improving student learning, engagement and outcomes, so we are looking forward to testing this new tool and giving Notebowl valuable feedback,” said Gehler.
